Richard McGehee is a self taught artist.
In 1979 Richard trained under a former U.S. Army farrier, learning forging and traditional blacksmithing. Soon after, he began to use these skills to create metal sculptures.
He has permanent sculptures displayed in the City of Tupelo, Mississippi and at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Mississippi and created a trophy, a metal sculpture called the “Reely Award,” for the Tupelo, Mississippi Film Festival. He has exhibited his work at numerous art shows and galleries across the Eastern U.S. from Chicago to Miami and won many Best in Show and Best in Category Awards at those shows over the years.
Now his primary focus is wood furniture and acrylic paintings on primed wood.
